I’m Karen Stewart, a serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist, corporate director, and author. For more than 30 years, I’ve built, scaled, and sold multi-million-dollar companies. I didn’t do it because I had to. I did it because I wanted to. From founding financial firms and real estate ventures to launching Fairway Divorce Solutions, Bumble Bees Venture Capital, and Rokk Energy Technologies, my work has always been about creating value, building wealth, and helping others do the same.

My Why & My Who

My why is simple. I believe you can have it all. Wealth, purpose, strong relationships, and the freedom to live life on your terms. I’ve never bought into the idea of work-life balance. That mindset puts one part of your life at odds with another. I believe in creating alignment, so everything flows for you. I do this work because I want to help other entrepreneurs see that it’s possible. I want them to stop overcomplicating, start making smart decisions, and build the businesses and lives they dream about. It’s not about working harder. It’s about using the right tools, learning from real experience, and scaling with intention. That’s the difference I want to make. If now is your time to grow, lead, and create wealth, but you need more than inspiration. You need clarity. Strategy. Tools that actually work. You are in the right place.

Karen Stewart has always been wired to build, lead, and find a better way forward. That instinct eventually led her to entrepreneurship and a career spent challenging accepted ways of doing business.

Her personal story is also tied to her work. She raised three children largely on her own while building companies, managing significant responsibilities, and making decisions that affected her family, employees, business partners, and financial future.

These experiences helped shape her belief that the quality of a person’s decisions determines the quality of their business, wealth creation and life.

Karen holds a Bachelor of Science degree and an MBA. She is also a Chartered Mediator and holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Following her MBA, Karen was recruited by Arthur Andersen, where she began building the professional experience that would later support her work as an entrepreneur, investor, director, and business leader.

Her combination of formal business education, mediation training, governance experience, and firsthand company-building gives her a rare ability to examine decisions from financial, human, operational, and strategic perspectives.

Over more than 25 years, Karen has started, built, grown, and sold companies across several industries. She has built eight companies and completed five successful exits.

Her ventures include:

  • Fairway Divorce Solutions Ltd., created to change how divorce happens in Canada through a more structured, mediated process. The company expanded through a franchise model. Karen stepped away in 2025 as the majority owner, while retaining an ownership interest and a board position.
  • Bumble Bees Venture Capital Inc., a private equity company, focused on putting wealth and leadership into the hands of women to make the world a better place.
  • Rokk Energy Technologies Inc., focused on valuable oil and gas technologies with a focus on the environment.
  • Milestone Wealth Management Inc., providing wealth advice and management for independent business owners.
  • Exclusive Capital Corporation, a brokerage investing in real estate assets.
  • Miles Financial Insurance Services Inc., an insurance brokerage serving business owners.
  • Trusted Brand 2016 Inc., a capital pool company created to help take a private company public.
  • Balanced Planning Alberta Inc., a mutual fund dealership that worked with more than 200 independent brokers.

Across these businesses, Karen has worked as a founder, owner, executive, investor, director, mentor, and advisor. Her experience includes launching companies, developing business models, hiring teams, raising capital, franchising, navigating periods of rapid growth, and preparing companies for sale.

Karen has written several books and articles about divorce, financial decision-making, and how families can move through separation with greater clarity and less conflict.

Her best-known book is Clean Break, which reflects the philosophy behind Fairway Divorce Solutions and Karen’s belief that even emotionally difficult decisions can be handled with structure, fairness, and dignity.

Her writing has helped bring practical guidance to people facing divorce while establishing her as a public voice on financial independence, family transition, and better decision-making.

Karen’s current body of work brings together the lessons learned through more than two decades of building companies, making high-stakes decisions, investing, serving on boards, and mentoring entrepreneurs.

Through The Decision Advantage™, she teaches founders and leaders how to make better decisions about business, leadership, money, growth, and life.

Her work includes:

    • The Decision Making Formula™, a practical framework for approaching important choices.
    • The Decision Advantage Growth Lab™, a small-group program that helps entrepreneurs move out of reactive decision-making and lead their companies with greater clarity, structure, and confidence.
    • Good Decisions. Happy Life., her newsletter launched in 2025, which shares decision frameworks, business models, leadership lessons, and stories from her years of building companies.

The Decision Advantage™ grew from Karen’s understanding that business success rarely comes down to one perfect idea. It comes from a series of good decisions made consistently over time.

Karen’s experience as a founder and business leader has led to continued work in governance, advising, and public speaking.

Much of Karen’s earlier media work grew from Fairway Divorce Solutions and her effort to change the conversation about divorce, family finances, and conflict.

Karen raised three children largely on her own while building companies full-time. Her experience balancing family, leadership, financial responsibility, and entrepreneurship is an important part of the perspective she brings to her work today.

Outside business, Karen is a mountaineer, backcountry skier, and adventurer. Her climbs include Mount Kilimanjaro, Everest and Annapurna Base Camp, and Antarctica.

Her approach to adventure reflects the way she approaches leadership: prepare carefully, assess the conditions, make the next good decision, take a wise step, and keep moving.

These experiences have reinforced her belief that courage is not the absence of uncertainty. It is the willingness to make a considered decision without knowing exactly how every part of the journey will unfold.
